Automatic Signature at end of Post?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am wondering if it is possible to write a signature that will automatically appear at the end of each post I write. I do this with my regular email and on my other blog.

I don’t think you can automate that, but you can write it up and save it as a text file that you just copy-paste at the end of each post.

No, but if you include a link to a single website hosted elsewhere, staff has been considering that to be link spamming.

You may want to reconsider if you were planning on including a link in there.

TT, can’t you do this in BlogDesk?

“Link spamming?” Isn’t one aspect of blogging about discussing my craft and promoting my other websites?

I would suggest creating a link to the sites in your About section. That means you do not need to include the links in your posts.
Repeatedly linking to the same sites in posts on your own blog could be seen as link spamming as has been said. It’s not the ‘discussion’ that is a problem, just the method :)

    What is BlogDesk?

    Hi there,
I’m the TT drmike referred to above.

Mark has spoken and you’d do best to do as he says. If you want a signature to appear on each post then you can make one in any program like mspaint or photoshop and upload it as an image. But you cannot link a signature back to a commercial site on every post, without causing the possible suspension or deletion of your blog.

Setting that important issue aside, BlogDesk is a free blog editor you can get off the net http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm
You can write and format all your posts in it, including images, and then upload the posts into your blog either as drafts or as published posts from it. BlogDesk will also automatically save your drafts and posts to your hard drive. I have never seen an option for creating a signature in BlogDesk but then I’ve never looked for one.

    Hope this helps :)

How about instead of risky ‘spam’ label sig or hiding in “About” page, easy way: put links to all your sites in your own “Blogroll”
then they would be instantly visible to visitors and you wouldn’t have to figure out a way to “sign” each post with them.

Such there aren’t any appearing on your blog, now, If unfamiliar, To Do:
Dashboard —> Add link —> then, as each window opens, put in: name, address
    > “save changes”
Be Sure: check box that asks “visible”
so each will appear on main/home and subsequent pages.

Reading this thread I got an idea, which I haven’t done, but seems good/possible:
if you wanted to make a shape or design that was also a link, maybe they could be put in a text widget, which would also appear next to content on each page.
    >Presentation —> Sidebar widgets —> drag a “text” widget to the column, double click on tiny rectangle, it will open, paste whatever into it, click on “x” then on “save changes”
