automatic syndicating

I DO NOT want my blogs to be automatically syndicated or sent out so that they are picked up by others. How do I stop this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You can disable search engines from discovering your site by logging in to your Dashboard and going to Settings >> Reading. There is an option there to set your blog to discourage search engines or to make it fully private. Fully private blogs require users to be invited by you to view them and such users have to create accounts at WordPress.com in order to log in and view your site.

Don’t forget to save the changes at the bottom of the page!

Thank you for the reply. I have not tried it yet, but why is this just now happening? And, how is this different from the info that I am seeing on syndicating blogs? For example, this is what I am seeing regarding syndication:

RSS feeds are built in to every blog at WordPress.com and always have been. In fact, they’re built in to most website which have dynamic content which is updated regularly. I apologize, I didn’t realize what you were originally asking. RSS feeds don’t send out any information, they only make it available in a format which makes it accessible for programs like Feedly or BlogLovin’ to pick up and display for people who want to keep up with your blog.

Unfortunately there is no way to completely disable your RSS feed, however you can limit the number of items which are displayed to 1. You can also set it so that only a couple-of-line excerpt is available rather than your entire post.

These settings are on the same page which I directed you to earlier, under your Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. So will going to Dashboard >> Settings>> Readings keep other websites from syndicating my blogs on WordPress. I DO NOT wish to have my blogs picked up by online publishers without my permission. Here is another explanation for this problem (but in reverse):

Need to know what to do because I am not okay with online magazines republishing my blog.

The problem which you linked me over to is actually one wherein users were trying desperately to make RSS feeds work. They WANTED the RSS feed to be able to be picked up by third party services but were having issues with all of the various services seeing them.

In regard to your question, again there is no way to completely disable your RSS feed. You can set the feed to only display a single post at a time and to have that post only display a few line excerpt of that one post, but you cannot completely disable it. I apologize.

The setting you would want to change is:

“Syndication feeds show the most recent” set to 1 (it won’t let you change it to 0).

And “For each article in a feed, show” set to “Summary”.

Don’t forget to hit save at the bottom of the screen.
