Automatic Update

  Hosting on Siteground, I can’t turn off “automatic updates” for wordpress itself. Something in the 6.5 update broke some sections of my site. Discovered the plugin that’s breaking it, but it’s got custom code that can’t be rolled back and I can’t fix it right away. Rolling WordPress back didn’t fix it so I reuploaded a backup I had. I’ve stopped all the plugins from updating and I’ve tried multiple times to get WordPress to stop updating, but it continues.

  I’ve tried WP Downgrade and on the “update-core” page it says, “This site will not receive automatic updates for new versions of WordPress.”. Still automatically updated that night.

  I tried adding “define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, false );” to the wp-config.php file, (AND had WP downgrade installed where it says it won’t automatically update), and yet it still updated again.

  Any suggestions on why this keeps happening or how I can actually stop wordpress from automatically updating?

  It was an issue with Siteground. There’s a clunky workaround.
