AUTOMATICALLY add a More tag?
-
Is there a setting I can set to AUTOMATICALLY add a “More” tag within every post that is longer than a pre-set number of lines…?
Or do I always have to do add it manually to the body of my message…?

I’m sorry but there is no “automatic” way for a user to program in a more tag using the themes we have available without css customization. And I suspect you couldn’t change that even with css customization, although I can’t say for sure.
The more tag must be added manually with each post you make using either the visual rich text editor or the standard editor. There’s one exception if you’re interested, the Hemingway theme always displays only excerpts from two posts side-by-side on the front page. Some folks have changed that a bit.
Here’s are examples: http://veloce.wordpress.com/ http://beredd.wordpress.com/ -
You can do it with the regular wordpress install by hacking the files. Since we’re a shared environment, that wouldn’t work here.
