automatically expand display all comments
-
I’m as a graphic designer and new to customizing WP. I have it installed for a client at http://www.myideallife.com/blog. I’ve set it up so people do not have to register OR have their comments approved but they do have to include their name and email and the client is notified for each post. We wanted it to be as barrier-free as possible and she figures she’ll check every time she’s notified and immediately remove anything that’s inappropriate. I did install the anti-spam add-on.
So now for my question… it seems that the way it’s setup using the default, the comments are not displayed until you click on 5 Comments then it expands the list of comments. Is there a simple tweak either in the style or in the dashboard where I can change this so whatever comments there are will just be displayed without having to click on the number of comments first?
Thanks,
Sheila

This forum is for those hosted here at the wordpress.COM free hosting service. The blog you reference is self-hosted on a third-party host. You need to ask questions about self-hosted blogs over at http://worpdress.ORG/support/ .

The first link returned a 404, but your use of the word “installed” leads me to guess that site is, like yours, self-hosted. If so, you need to be at wordpress.org.

If not, please give us a link to the wordpress.COM blog in question.

Hmmm, maybe my browser is possessed. It wouldn’t be the first time. I just go the 404 again too.
I’m off to perform a browser exorcism now.

Thanks guys…didn’t realize I was in the wrong place. Will re-post at the dot org. Blog is there… not sure why you’d see a 404.

AH…the problem is with the embedded link… it includes a period! It should just be:

Ah, that is it. I might have copied and pasted (without the period on the end) when I saw it. I knew that I had seen it.

Hello,
I am a WordPress.com user. I would appreciate it if this question was answered for WordPress.com users. -
The answer at WP.com is that this cannot be done. I’ve got a post on my front page right now with over 40 comments and it would just stop things dead. I understand you want to encourage comments and another click can discourage people, but this is what’s available here. You CAN do it with an independent blog, if you know how.

There is one theme that does it, P2, but its more of a twitter theme that doesn’t show post titles, which is just as problematic. I am trying to run a group blog, where the authors can respond to each other, but I am having troubles fitting WP.com to that.
