Automatically Giving Subscribers WP Accounts

Hi – I recently learned that when someone subscribes to my website by entering their email, WordPress automatically gives them a WordPress account. This is not ideal! It is likely going to dissuade some people from subscribing. Some people don’t WANT to have another account. Why are you making this harder for us? Is there any way around this? I assume that it works the same no matter which subscription plugin I use.

As I understand it, anyone can read your publicly available blog. If someone wants to Follow or Like a page though, they will need a WordPress account.
This works the same as any other forum or blog service like Facebook, Tumblr, or Reddit. Users must have an account to interact with the platform and other individuals.
