Automatically making posts from picture dates

  I am planning to make a blog for my family with hundreds of pictures taken over the years. I want to group pictures from each day into blog posts, and the publish day of each post should reflect the day the pictures were taken. That way it will be possible to use the sidebar calendar and find pictures from specific dates.

  It will be a too big job to do all this manually. Is there any way to sort of automate this? I use Adobe Lightroom and know for example how to export pictures with capture date as file name, if that could be of any help.

  Hi there, You haven’t mentioned if your site will be hosted here on WordPressdotcom or hosted elsewhere using the open source WordPress software. You can learn more about the differences between the two in our guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Here on WordPressdotcom, if you use the information on galleries that @manisharaut2019 provided, combined with back dating your posts, you could achieve what you are trying to do. https://en.support.wordpress.com/schedule-a-post-or-page/

  However, if, as you mentioned, you have hundreds of photos to share, you’ll definitely want to resize and optimize them prior to uploading them to your WordPressdotcom site. This will maximize your free storage space and increase page load time for your site visitors. A good size to aim for is 1600 pixels at the most unless your theme requires a larger image for its featured image.

  Thanks! My intention was to use WordPress.com. I assume WordPress.org has more possibilities, but I guess neither of them has the possibility I was hoping for: a way to automate the making of posts.

  I know it is possible to make all posts manually and back date them. I’ll see if I take the big step and do the job manually.

  You’re welcome.

  There is a utility here called Postbot and an extension for Lightroom, but I’ve never heard of anyone using either one to back date posting.
