‘Automatically use first image in post’ feature is not working
-
Hi,
I use the ‘automatically use first image in post’ setting rather than the featured image setting, but most of my posts on my homepage have recently been only showing blank thumbnails rather than the actual first image in the post.
Now I distinctly remember it becoming this way when I uploaded a GIF as a featured image for one of my posts when suddenly, the majority of my posts reverted to showing these blank thumbnails. Why would this be? I find it rather strange that a few of my posts are still showing the first image in the post while others are not, which indicates that feature is working selectively for some reason I don’t know.
If someone can answer this, thank you in advance!

Hi –
Thanks for writing in to us.
I’ve had a quick look and can see what you’ve described about the images. Clearing the page cache did nothing.
To make sure I understand, the broken/grayed out images with the post titles used to show the first image in the post?
The feature image has been assigned to this post (I used the first image from the post, assigned it as featured from the media library) and now it shows on the front page again. No more grayed out box.

Did you remove the original files from the media library by any chance?

Hi, can you confirm whether you’re still having trouble with this site? I’m currently seeing the images there. I’m wondering if you just re-added them.

Yes it is working now! (Sorry for the late reply. I didn’t see that people had answered.) Thank you!
