autosave did not auto save?
-
Hi there happiness engineers – i am sad!
I wrote an entire blog post about my first day of travelling, and the autosave seems to have only saved ONE version about 30% of the way into my writing. I then accidentally clicked back, then forward and i seem to have lost the majority of my content.I am told by your fellow Automatticians that it’s unlikely that the content was actually lost just due to a back and forth page browsing, yet i don’t seem to be able to find the entire content. Could you please help?

Howdy!
The Autosave function in the /wp-admin/ editor saves drafts every two minutes, however if you were using the new “beep beep boop” editor, the drafts do not autosave. In that editor, the post is only saved in your browser’s local history. Additionally, if you lose your internet connection while writing, the autosave will fail and only save to your browser’s local history.
So there are a couple places to check for if that content is still around in your browser or saved in another revision.
First, visit your post in the new editor (I’m assuming you’re looking into your most recent one?):
https://wordpress.com/post/66045583/260/?optin
If your browser saved a newer version, a button will appear at the top to give you the option to restore the more recent version.
Another option would be to check all your revisions in the /wp-admin/ editor:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
If neither of those methods gets you the missing content, then I’m afraid it’s lost.
Let me know how this goes,
