autosave with no content

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

Periodically, I have been getting a message when I go into a page to edit it which says that there is a more recent autosave.

When I click on the link to view the autosave there is nothing there except the title.

At the time of writing there are two such pages .. welcome and allotments. In neither case should there be an autosave.

PS A number of strange things have periodically happened on my PC. So, I wonder if this may be a case of hacking. I am reporting it in case it is a genuine bug.

  • Hi Brian –

I know that has to be frustrating. The posts are opened up on another device somewhere – that’s typically what that message indicates.

Can you share an example post of where this has happened?

There are two pages .. one called Welcome which acts as the front page and the other is called Allotments.

  • Hi there,

Yes, I see the notification on my end. It sounds like you had another instance of the editor open elsewhere, like another tab or web browser, for example.

    Can you try the following:

1.Log out of WordPress.com on all browsers and even the app (if applicable).

2.Clear your browser’s cache and cookies. If you’re not sure how we have a guide on this at

    Solve Common Browser Issues

3.Log back into WordPress.com to see if the problem still persists.

Let me know if that works for you.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I have implemented the two-step security to see if that helps. If not, I will use a different browser. And failing that, I will make implement your suggestions.

I will close this for now,
