I am confused. I just bought a license to use Avada Theme by WordPress them through Envato on Themeforest.net. I don’t see an installer. Do I need a WordPress account? Do I need WordPress software on my computer. Envato is inviting me to pay $50 to install? Why don’t they just give an installer. I can’t even ask them a support question until it’s installed.

That won’t work here at WordPress.com I’m afraid. Only WordPress.org self-hosted sites can use themes purchased from Themeforest. You either need to try to get a refund, or if that theme is important to you, then look into what is involved in setting up a WordPress.org self-hosted site.

No it isn’t. I guess that’s why its a theme that costs money rather than the many free ones found here. A lot depends on what you want to do with your new site. If it is for business and will involve e-commerce then often self-hosting is the best way to go. If the new site is just for info about a business and or recreation then WordPress.com here is ideal. You can upgrade from the free version to Personal/Premium/Business for no ads and extra functionality and there are over 300 themes some free, some to purchase, to choose from.
