  my oldest avatar is showing for instance on Facebook etc. which I really don’t want! I updated it a long time ago… How do I get the new one to show EVERYWHERE?!!!

  Try flushing your FB cache but disconnect from FB first http://umairj.com/146/how-to-clear-facebook-shares-cache/ Try the full reconnect procedure again detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-facebook including step 3 (removing the FB app), which is probably the most important step.

  Aside from what’s at this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize we have no control over the images that Facebook chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.

  dear time thief (good name!) thank you for your response, I appreciate it. Apparently it’s actually on the wordpress side of things.
  the avatar is one I used while starting up one of the pages.
  it is still visible on the upper left of the page, even though I have changed the avatar (via gravatar) and the old one is nowhere to be seen!
