Avatar or Gravatar
-
First of all, I’m really thrilled that WordPress.COM now gives us the option to delete our avatar and not by having to upload a “blank” image. I know that this was causing some people problems with their RSS feeds on some feed readers.
But now that I’ve deleted my WP.com avatar, my official Gravatar has taken its place. I’m cool with that. What is annoying the heck out of me is that since I deleted my WP.com avatar, there’s a notice in my Dashboard, “WordPress tip: Put your picture next to your comments and posts, upload an avatar.” Hello? I am using an avatar, just it’s my Gravatar. :)
Is there some way I can turn off this notice or indicate somewhere that I’m using my Gravatar? Just a little annoyance in a wonderful 2.7 world.

Whew, thanks, mtdewvirus! Was wondering when there’d be official Gravatar integration. It was yesterday. :)
@teck07-you have many faces, my friend, all friendly. ;)

Jennifer, I think I’ll keep this one for awhile I really
like the avatar I mean Gravatar. If anyone’s wondering it’s
a picture of my Xbox 360 avatar. -
My new gravatar has been implemented for quite some time, per link you provide Nick. But, my forum picture has somehow become a default.
-
Steve, what do you get when you are in your WP.COM user profile and click on the link to Gravatar? If the avatar there isn’t associated with the email in your WP COM account, you get the default avatar patternz.

My Avator is not working. It show my image within my blog, it doesn’t when I post comments.
I even changed images thinking that the images to see if that made a difference. It didn’t.
I find this such a waste of time and very frustrating. I think there is a glitch in the new format.
If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.
I e-mailed support and they told me some tips that did not work.
I can’t stand being a pink computer generated image based on my e-mail address instead of my old image before the change. -
None of the links for any wordpress avatar/etc is ever reachable on my dashboard! Therefore I’m getting
ready to file a complaint!Ever since I’ve been here,something is alsways reversing… -
@udtlearner-And your WordPress.COM blog address is …? The site linked to your username isn’t hosted here.
Have any of you people actually clicked on the Gravatar option in your Dashboard’s user Profile page and followed the instructions there? Just make sure that the avatar you want to use is associated with the email you are using in your WordPress.COM profile.

im not sure if it was the wordpress update, but my image reverted to the original one i had by itself…i tried to change it back, but its still not working :(

@ Jennifer, I used to get the gravatar that I uploaded way back when that wordpress.com lady made the announcement about blavatars. I’ve had the new gravatar/blavatar whatever the hell the trendiest word is, up on my WordPress.com page, forums, comments, etc. – up until this morning. However when I go to settings and profile and gravatar, it shows that the image which I uploaded is in place (and under the only email which I have).

@diamondfistwerny- Is it the one I’m seeing now, of someone tying his shoe?
The Blavatar (blog avatar) thing only works for your blog’s favicon and appears next to pingbacks from your blog to other people’s blogs. Don’t think it’s meant for comments you make when you are on those sites. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/12/02/go-get-a-blavatar/

How is that you’re seeing that, but what I see just above your comment is the default wavatar thingie. I am registered at gravatar, the blavatar through settings and the image on our profile page. All of them are of me tying my shoe. They appeared normally until today.

@diamondfistwerny
Have you tried clearing your cache? I’m seeing the shoe image as well. -
I don’t remember if I’ve cleared my cache today. It crossed my mind that that could be the issue. I’ll see what happens. I didn’t realize that others saw the shoe. Thanks
