Avatar question.

Perhaps I’m just being impatient, but I tried uploading avatars several times and they’re still not showing up. Should they take a while to appear?
Also, I would love to have avatars next to the posts on my site, esp as I’m not the only author and this would help distinguish the posts. I looked up the forums and support sites and a plug-in was suggested to achieve this. Call me naive, but I don’t know what to do with plug-ins, as I don’t have a wordpress directory to add the plug-ins to….I simply signed up to wordpress; I didn’t download it to my computer. Hope someone can shed some light on all this. I realise that one question has turned into about four, as usual!

Plugins NEVER relate to WordPress.com. They are strictly for WordPress blogs that are independently hosted, so as soon as you come to the word, click away. You will only get confused.
Avatars always take some time to show up; then the show up first in the forums. There are a ton of threads on this already. Give it some time and they’ll show up everywhere.
There is an avatar testing thread in the Off Topic forum if you want to try it out.

Kind of a relief to hear that I don’t need to know about plug-ins…there’s enough to take in as it is. I’ll go check that testing thread now…thanks!
