Avatar size

  What size should an avatar picture be?

  I uploaded one, and too much was cropped. I uploaded another, and it had big black borders. It would be help[cul to know the actual dimensions.

  The biggest avatar size (that I am aware of) is the one you have as the first post in this thread. The maximum size would be 128 X 128 pixels. If you upload a photo that is a perfect square with those dimensions, it will size that avatar all the way down to the smallest! Hope that helps!

  Thanks, yes it does help. That meant I could upload a picture a little larger than the maximum size, and the cropping would not be too drastic.

  I think it would be helpful if the size for avatars (128 x 128 pixels) was written above the upload box on the Your Profile page.

  I gotta admit that I’m thowing up there 500k *.png files recently and then cropping afterwards. The system is taking them without any issue.

  I’m echoing timethief– posting the size of avatars would be great. I kept on tweaking photos and then uploading to find out they were too small.

  The image can be larger if it is a perfect square in the first place or you don’t mind making the avatar a square and cropping it a bit. I have uploaded larger photos that are squares and they cropped fine for me as well.
