  I just downloaded my own avatar to my profile and it is showing up on my blog when I comment so I know it is there. However, when I commented on a different wordpress blog the new auto-generated one showed up instead. Is this just a time lag or am I stuck with having both?

  It’s a time lag. Your avatar needs to propagate out to all of the wp.com servers.
