Avatars For Regular Contributors
-
My blog now has quite a few regular readers who leave comments on most of the articles. Several of these people have contacted me recently asking how they can set up a profile so that their own avatar will appear with their comment.
I’m sure this can be done – and I’m probably being really dim – but I just can’t get my head around how!
-
Send them to http://wordpress.com where they will be able to set up their own account (with or without blog) and upload an avatar.
-
Thanks for your response rosclarke.
Once they have done that I assume they will need to log-in before posting a comment. As there is no log-in option with the comment box is there a way to add this to my sidebar?
-
Put a link to WordPress.com in a text widget. If you use the meta widget they might be able to use that, but I’m not sure. It could be limited to those who you’ve authorized as contributors.
-
Thanks to both of you for the speedy response – the community here at WordPress is amazing!
-
They could also go to http://gravatar.com and get an avatar that will work everywhere gravatar is enabled.
-
Is it possible to add a log-in form – ie Username & Password – to the sidebar, rather than having the reader taken from my blog to the main WordPress log-in screen?
-
No, they will always have to login at http://wordpress.com
If they stay logged in though they won’t have to go there again. -
