Average Length of Time for WordPress Investigation
-
Someone I know has used Gmail and WordPress’ account recovery to effectively steal my WordPress account and three domains. She changed the account recovery settings on both the email address, and accessed everything I had stored through the Gmail account to use as her proof. She also changed all of the recovery settings for the WordPress account, but I have lots of proof that I’m the original registrant. The problem is that she also has the same amount of proof, except that my bank account was used to make all of the purchases. I doubt that she has that information, but since she’s gotten into my Gmail account, I’m not sure.
The happiness engineers have said that they’re investigating, but it’s been a couple of weeks since I last heard from them, and it’s been over a month since the original domain hijacking.
I have a lawyer that I am ready to engage, but it will cost quite a bit of money to fight this in court. I’d like to trust the happiness engineers to help me, but this length of time makes it feel like no one cares that this has happened to me. This is really weighing on me and has had a horrible negative impact on the public image of my burgeoning non-profit organization.
How long do investigations like this typically take? Does anyone know?
Thank you for reading.
