.AVI and .MOV files do not show up on CHOOSE FILES list

  I’ve been following the directions for uploading movies to my blog page. The demo video shows uploading a .MOV file. When I try to CHOOSE FILES, the .AVI and .MOV file type is not listed as an accepted format. When I force it to see those file types by typing in *.mov or *.avi in the choose bar, the files will show up, but will not upload. They are not an acceptable file format.
  I don’t want to post to YouTube, etc., so is it possible to get these files to load directly from my computer?

  You can upload video files to your WordPress.com with the space upgrade:

  Alternatively you can upload them to YouTube or similar and link to them from your blog.
