Avoiding loss of content
-
I started a free blog with you: funhometips.wordpress.com. Then I decided to use an elegant theme template that I had purchased through you with my custom domain name funhometips.com. Now I would like to sign up for WordAds and I’m getting the error that my site doesn’t have a custom domain name. I can follow your directions to point the one to the other, but I don’t know what will happen to the theme with all of the content that I am currently using if I do so. I don’t want to risk losing the content. Do you have any suggestions?

If you point your custom domain name to your WordPress.com blog none of the content on your WordPress.com blog will be affected. You theme you currently have set up on that site will still apply and all of the content you have there will remain. Only the URL will change.

Thank you Andrew for your response. But the wordpress theme that I purchased that is using my custom domain name is the one with all of the content. The (dot)wordpress domain name site doesn’t have much on it. I quit using it and have been building the other one. Does your answer still apply?

Well, http://funhometips.com/ is not actually a WordPress.com blog. It’s a self-hosted WordPress.org blog.
WordAds is only available to WordPress.com-hosted blogs.
