"Awaiting Moderation"… Ad Infinitum
-
OK, so this is getting really old.
I am trying to add a comment on a blog by a very famous (and busy) author to whose blog I am properly subscribed to and since I started my subscription a few months ago, I have NEVER been able to leave a single comment…. It simply never gets published.
I have found NO ANSWERS to this bug anywhere else except for suggestions such as ‘contact the author’ (he doesn’t respond to any comments and has no email address to respond to).
OF COURSE, there is NO HELP WHATSOEVER WITH THIS ISSUE on Wordpres – the only content that I see is how to INCREASE THAT STUPID FEATURE – because indeed, it must be very dumb, that it seems to not work at all for so many people deluged with spam (as it seems to be designed for).
OK, so I guess by now you can realize how extraordinarily frustrated I have become (especially since the blog in question is by one of my favourite authors) and I would be really, very grateful if someone who has a clear understanding how this ‘feature’ works, to tell not just me, but everyone out there who is looking for an answer, why this happens and what can be done to fix this problem.
And please, folks – don’t wate your time suggesting I review my content for ‘inappropriate’, ‘incendiary’, etc., word – THERE AREN’T ANY THAT A CIVILIZED PERSON WOULD NOT USE IN A NORMAL CONVERSATION. If anything, my comment here is about as ‘uncivilized’ and ‘incendiary’ as I get in any internet posting.
However, it may be useful to know that because the confirmation email for the subscription to this blog was automatically sent to spam by gmail and I did not realize it was there for several days, perhaps wordpress , not having an immediate answer to nit, blacklisted my email or IP address, resulti9ng in my inability to post comments. But then, why would I still receive notice of new articles on the blog?
So my question is, HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED? Do I need to establish a completely new internet identity and ask my ISP to give me a new IP adress (if that is even possible)?
THANK YOU in advance for looking into it and, if possible, working a solution to this insufferable ‘feature’.

If you believe your comments are going to spam then see here please http://akismet.com/contact/ and select this
__ I think Akismet is catching my comments by mistake
Also do not forget to provide the URL of the specific blog you refer to in your contact formBe aware of the following:
We bloggers can all choose to moderate our comments or not. Not moderating comments results in massive amounts of spam comments simply because the majority of so-called information on the internet is spam, and over 80% of all comments submitted to wordpress.COM blogs daily is spam.We bloggers can choose exactly when we wish to read any comments sequestered for moderation.
We bloggers can choose whether or not we wish to approve any comments submitted to our sites, and post them, or to simply ignore them, or to delete them, or to blacklist annoying commenters.
There is no Big Brother, who can compel us to change any of that when it comes to comments, and if there was, I dare say that most of us would simply quit blogging on any blogging platform that became autocratic and implemented such an abusive measure.
The bottom line here is that if any blogger does not approve any comment you submit to any of their posts there is nothing you can do about that because nothing broken and there is nothing for Staff to fix.

Thank you timethief… But I’ve already done that, actually that was the first thing I did… And… Nothing. The akismet folks even told me it shouldn’t be happening… We tested it on their test blog… But it does on this author’s site.
And I am 100% sure he isn’t even aware this is happening, the way he’s in demand worldwide, it would be a miracle he’d even notice the problem, so emailing him like akismet suggested (done that) and hoping to get a response would be like winning the grand prize of the national lottery…
It’s sad when you meet someone that inspires you that has a blog where one can comment on, not being able to do so because of some idiotic digital restriction measure…

I am truly sorry this is happening to you and do hope that email directly will be productive for you. To be brutally honest, I am inspired by many artists, writers, poets and photographers who do have blogs, but I never comment on their posts simply because their sites are usually set up for the purposes of selling artwork, books or photos and not for conversations. Best wishes with this.

timethief, the problem is directly related to WordPress… If it was possible to deregister and re-register without losing my online identity (or raising suspicion from the spam filters) I would have done so a long time ago.
It seems my only recourse in the case of that blog is to try forge a new online identity under a different email address (as wordpress doesn’t allow multiple user names under one email address) and see if that works.
In any case as long as we as a society refuse to treat spammers and telemarketers for criminal harassment or at least make them financially responsible for the waste of time, resources and aggravations they cause, the phenomenon will continue.
Thanks again for your kind support :-)
