award image not appearing on sidebar

  I want to post two images (awards) on my blog on the right side, in the widget sidebar area . I tried using the Image widget but the image actually doesnt show – there is a vacant outline of a square box (something like image not available) . I have resized the image and going through many uploads, but it still won’t show up – nor will any other image. I would like to know how to get an image to appear!   No show probably means you’re not using the right URL. Image URLs always end with the filetype extension (.png or .jpg etc).
  If you have already uploaded the image to your blog, go to Media > Library, click Edit next to the thumbnail, copy the File URL from the Save module: that’s the URL you need to use.

  thank you justpi. i tried the same thing again, yet, am facing the same problem.
  the block gets created yet the image doesnt appear.
