Back end horrible after latest update
-
After the lastest update my admin panel and back end just freaked out. There green, brown, and red colors all over the links, headings etc. It’s annoying and makes it difficult to read. What has happened?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi kaxigt, could you get a screenshot and upload it to your media library, then update us here?
Also, can you confirm that site you listed is the site you’re struggling with? I noticed it has not been updated recently.
These forums are for sites hosted here on our servers. For help with a WordPress site hosted somewhere else, you’ll need to use the forums for self-managed WordPress installations instead.

Hi, just uploaded an image to my media library. The green color is also visible when you write a post, uses blocks etc.
Kindly Lillan

That highlight is absolutely not added by us, we’d definitely never do anything by that.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

All my browsers are up to date, cashe and cookies clears every day. This appeared when I switched to another theme. I always use mozilla dev since I make wp-themes, programming and web sites and in my personal installations on my web host, none of the installations have this problem, it’s only here at .com.
I don’t get the green highlight in chrome, firefox, opera, and edge so I guess it must be a mozilla dev in combo with wordpress.com problem. I tested to disable my few addons and extensions, with no change. It came directly with a theme, and I thought i could be something with the latest update. Unfortunately I don’t remember which theme it was.

Do mean in all browser or only in mozilla dev, because I have already tried it in that browser. =)
-
-
Since it’s only occurring in “Mozilla Dev,” just in that browser.
Also, do you mean Firefox Dev? The Mozilla browser was discontinued in 2006: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Application_Suite

Hi there,
Are you sure you have disabled all the add-ons you have installed on Firefox Dev? Also, make sure to run a malware scan on your computer in case it’s infected with a highlighter program. I recommend AdwCleaner.
Finally, does this happen if you use the browser in Private mode?
-
OK, this is about a blog at wordpress.com.
1) I disabled all addons and extension – no change
2) I run malware and scan my pc everyday – it’s clean
3) As I wrote before, this only happens with firefox dev in wordpress.com, but not firefox dev in private mode (tnx for the tip).
4) I have other wp-installations at my web host and back end in those themes are completely normal when I use firefox dev or the other browsers.
5) If my computer was infected with a highlight program I surely had recognized it when I login on my self installations. Finally – this started with a theme. I was testing a couple of themes when this appeared, I don’t know with which one. To clarify, I had tried out about 4-5 themes from the theme directory before I saw the green highlight so it must have come with a particular theme. So if anything is infected it would be a .com theme and my account. I can’t see any other explanation. Hope you can =)

For your information – now I’m pretty sure it’s a theme I have activated on this account (mormorsfinaste.wordpress.com) because I have two other accounts with other emails and when i log in, there was no problem in the back end what so ever.
I have used my present theme under a longer period, without this problem, until I tried and activated themes. After that everything freaked out.

As I wrote before, this only happens with firefox dev in wordpress.com, but not firefox dev in private mode (tnx for the tip).
That definitely suggests to me that you have an add-on which is causing this. Firefox typically doesn’t run add-ons in Private mode, unless you specifically set each one individually to do so.
For what it’s worth, I do not see this problem on your site, or any site, under Firefox Developer Edition 80.0.b8.

How many times do I have to explain, it’s still there even if I disable my addons the problem still remains. I only have three.
I have two other accounts at .com with other emails and when i logged in to them (NOT in private mode), there was no problem in the back end what so ever. FYI – it is with the same browser, Firefox Developer Edition 80.0.b8, and with my three addons. And there were no green highlights at all.
How can this be a problem in one on the accounts and not in the two others when I use the same browser? The only explanation, for me, is that this appeared when I activated one of the themes I tested.

This is decoramadesign.wordpress.com – back end
decoramadesign.wordpress.comThis is vemvadhur.wordpress.com – back end
vemvadhur.wordpress.comLogged in with Firefox Developer Edition 80.0.b8.
Do you see the difference? Same browser, same three add-ons, no green highlightning.

Please open the browser inspector and lookup the highlighted elements’ CSS. You can take a screenshot of what you find out, upload it to an online tool like https://snipboard.io/ and then paste the link into your reply.
