Back end reading like it's WordPress.org, not wordpress.com ??
-
I have a wordpress.com business site/plan. While I was re-doing some things on my site, checking available plugins, testing some new themes, I apparently triggered something that makes it now look like, on my back end, that I have a wordpress.org setup. This means I can’t switch back to the theme I want to switch back to. And when I click to forum/theme links from within my dashboard – it takes me to wordpress.org content.
I just tried restoring my site from a few hours ago using VaultPress and that didn’t work. Any ideas on what caused this and how to fix it would be appreciated. I would like to go back to a theme I was trying out earlier this evening (anemone) ASAP.
Thank you

I have yet to receive any support on this. I have a professional account, yet all those features seem to be currently unavailable to me. I also can’t see current or past stats. I’m hesitant to attempt any troubleshooting on my own as I am not sure what happened or what was done to cause this in the first place. So, instead of working on anything else on the site, I am waiting for this to be resolved.
Any help or communication would be really appreciated!

Did you try reaching out to the team from https://wordpress.com/help/contact page? Make sure you are logged into the correct WordPress.com account which owns the paid plan.

I did – I get this notice:
“Limited Support Sep 11 – 18
Private support will be closed through Monday, September 18, included. We will reopen private support on Tuesday, September 19.
Why? Once a year, the WordPress.com Happiness Engineers and the rest of the WordPress.com family get together to work on improving our services, building new features, and learning how to better serve you, our users. But never fear! If you need help in the meantime:
https://en.support.wordpress.com
Our staff will be keeping an eye on the Forums for urgent matters.”
Per that message, it seems as though posting here is my only option until Sept. 18. If I shouldn’t be getting that message due to the paid plan I have, then again, it seems as though that this loss of available features is related to the problem I am experiencing.

Hi there,
You installed a plugin on your site yesterday, and that changes the way your site works, as you saw by the change in the dashboard.
It looks like something has gone wrong with the process in this case, which is why your site is not currently listed in My Sites. We’re looking into this to get it fixed up for you.
Alternatively, I can also try reverting your site to how it was before you installed a plugin, but you might not be able to install plugins or custom themes on the site again in future if we do that.

I appreciate you looking into it to get it fixed – thank you. I would like to hold off on reverting it unless that seems to be the only option.
I did suspect it might have been a plugin, which is why I did deactivate and delete the one I installed yesterday – but when that didn’t fix the issue I wasn’t certain.
Thank you again for your help!

I’ve tried what I could to fix it myself, but it looks like I’ll need help from a developer on this. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back.

Thank you for your time and your help! Fingers crossed that it will be figured out soon!

Hello there!
Apologies for the delay :)
Sometimes a plugin or theme might change the default user roles on your site. In this case looks like some of the changes you mention on your first message triggered a modification on your user, from administrator to a different role without the proper access.
We have fixed the issue and everything should work alright now, please let us know if you need further help.
Best,
