Back-up website files to transfer to Go Daddy
-
How do I back-up my website files and save them to my server in order to transfer to Go Daddy for hosting?
-
Go to Tools->Export and export the files. Then at your new site on the dashboard go to Tools->Import.

Thank you – I just had a look at that section. I’ve exported the files now my step says to Log in to my account and generate a MySQL export from your phpMyAdmin screen. Are you able to help me with instructions on how to do that?
-
Yes and no. I am able to tell you that you can’t do that with a WordPress.com blog. You must go to the Tools page of the dashboard and do the content import from there. You cannot import anything else.

Ok so that means I shouldn’t have purchased website hosting from Go Daddy as there is no way to get my site over to them in its current form on wordpress.com ?
-
No, it doesn’t mean that at all.
Regardless of where you get hosting, the export process is the same. You can’t export the theme or any of the actual databases, you can ONLY export the content.
