Backdating Blog Posts
-
Up until recently I have been able to backdate my posts easily, but the ‘status’ tab in the ‘post settings’ bar no longer allows me to do so. How do I do it now? Many thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi handprtw,
When I click on the Post Setting bar, I get the option for Status. I drop down click on this and it shows the date published. When I drop down click on this, it pops up with a calendar and I can choose a date for my post.
How does the process differ for you?

Hi James
Thanks for your reply. I used to be able to do that, but now I only have the option to “publish immediately” or choose a date in the future to publish. If I try and choose a date from last year, nothing seems to happen.

Hi again,
So when you create the new post, you follow the steps listed above, you click on Publish Immediately, it drops down to a calendar, and you can’t select a date from 2016?
I recreated these steps and was able to select a date from 2014 and then had to push the large ‘Publish’ button to the right of the Post Settings tab to get it to publish.
You’ve done all those steps and it’s still not working?

Thanks for your help, James. Not sure if there was actually a problem before, or if I was just missing something really simple, but it is now accepting the date from 2016. Thanks again.

Editing published posts that all have the title and datestamps in the URL posts and backdating them is the worst possible choice from an SEO perspective. What that results in is broken links in Google search when people search for those posts. If you are not referring to draft posts and are referring to published posts then use reblog instead.
