Backdating posts but not alerting subscribers

I would like to backdate a few posts (add a few to my blog list, dated earlier this year) but since they are not recently written, I do not want my subscribers to be alerted to the addition to my blog post list. Is this possible? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Why are you doing that at all? Why break links and create 404 (page not found) errors in search engine results. It makes no SEO sense to do so and it damages your blog.

So there’s no way to temporarily disable the ‘sending to all’?
    Can you suggest another way?

Also, from what I understand, WordPress will put the blogs in sequence according to the date on the article and not according to the posting date. Is that correct?

    Thanks, Timethief.

Every post published on a free hosted WordPress.com blog has the title and date of publication embedded into the URL. We cannot change permalink structure on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. Changing the date on any post will create a broken link in Google and Bing and all other search engine search results.

Are you importing content that has already been published elsewhere?
If so, where is it from?
Why are you intending to change the date on any posts that have already been published?

    Hi,

I don’t want to complicate things.

My blog has been international travel-focused for the past 2 years and my subscribers have been drawn to that content and I am continuing to add posts along those lines. However, I have a series of articles that I wrote last year that I want to share too but are very Toronto-focused. Although they fit under the categories that I’ve set up, the current readership might not care to get updates on those posts I add and that’s why I didn’t want them to be alerted to these ‘new’ posts.

    I hope that makes sense.

Why don’t you try editing one post and changing the datestamp and then clicking update? Then you will see if it goes out in the RSS Feed or not. I’m suggesting the because we cannot disable the RSS Feed.
