  Every time i try and either select an image to use as the background OR simply change the background color, it will show it in customiser, I save – and then it does not show up when you view the site.

  Hi there,

  It could be some browser issue. I would suggest you to clear browser cache. https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
  Close the browser once you clear the cache. Open a new browser window and login.
  Try to make changes again and verify if the change are getting reflected.

  If the issue persists then add modlook tag in sidebar for staff assistance.
