    umm i wanna know how to make a wordpress background using gimp? and please tell me the width x height in pixels please.

    Hi Isabella. You posted on the WordPress.com support forum, but your question is about GIMP. Why not search for support on GIMP’s website at http://gimp.org ?

    Also, please note we can’t give you specific width and height measurements because not everyone has the same screen resolution.

    This is a little like asking how do I make a boat?

    Metal or wood, or paper or plastic or fiberglass? How big? Ocean or freshwater? Oars, sails, outboard motor, inboard motor?

    The answer to your question depends on what you are wanting to do and we are not gimp teachers.

    You would probably be best to google “gimp tutorials” and work through a couple of them. Here is one for you to start with: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ .

    Background size is not something that really has an answer since there are displays being used by web surfers anywhere from a 400px wide to as much as 2500px or more.

    The larger the image the larger the files size and the slower your site will load. I would not go anything wider than 1500px and no taller than 1000px and even then you have to seriously, heavily optimize that image so that the file size is reasonable (under 200k and better if it is under 150k).
