Background changes in text widget

I am having trouble changing the background color of one of my text widgets. I need it to stand out so that a client can see that is where to click to get more information. It is on my home page. I have tried several different html’s codes but nothing is working. Please help.

Are you referring to the text widgets at the bottom of this page: seattle6008.wordpress.com?
You cannot change the html code of a WordPress.com site (except for making changes whilst in the page or post editor), so this would require custom CSS code, which again would require a Premium plan. Take a look at the different plans here:

@seattle6008, which widget do you want to change? They all have the default placeholder content in them. The CSS code to change the background color will have to be specific to the widget, so we need to know which one.
