background color designation for Quintus

  • Unknown's avatar

I need the background color name of my theme (Quintus) so I can match it for photos. I somehow figured it out for Quentin, which allowed me to drop a photo onto a canvas (in Photoshop) so that the background matches the screen and becomes invisible (only the pic itself displayed)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks for the note. I looked on the right side for the sidebar in question and it appears that my only option is to “unsubscribe”, which suggests that I may already be subscribed…in case anyone has a solution for me.

Yes if that’s the case then you are subscribed . :)

    Hi there,

Quintus uses a repeating background image, rather than a single color, as its default background. This is the default background image in the theme:

Thanks Rachelmcr, but the color I was trying to identify is the background color to the

      text block

area, which appears to be sort of grayish/offwhite.

Update: I figured out how to do the text block background color…the hard way. :)

What I did was this: 1) Print screen of a section of a recent post. 2) Open new file in Photoshop and paste the Print-Screen image. 3) Clone-stamp out the text and other material from Print-Screen leaving just the background color. 4) Copy and paste an outlined image (already prepared) into the cleared out area. Crop the page to just leave my pasted image on the pasted background.

Now I have an image on the appropriate background which, when inserted in a new WordPress posting, appears to be a cut-out image since the background on the image matches the text block background.

At that point, I removed the pasted-in image layer from the Photoshop background layer, which leaves me with a sort of template that I can use for future images.

But now I have a new question:

My tagline “Words. Ideas. Whimsy” is reversed out of the black header block. But the three words are sort of fuzzy. What I’d like to do is either increase the type size slightly or “whiten up” the type color.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi there,

I’m glad you found a way to get that color. :) You might also be interested in our guide for How to Find Your Theme’s CSS. That gives you tips for finding out things like what colors are being used in your site’s theme.

You can change that text color under Appearance > Header in your site’s WP Admin dashboard. Under “Header Text” at the bottom of that page you can choose the text color for your site title and tagline.

To make other changes (like changing the font size) you’ll need the Custom Design features that are part of the WordPress.com Premium plan.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
