Background color glitch

Hi there.
Does anyone know what happened today with my Sundance theme? The background of the central column turned gray. For many years the background was white. But now it has changed and I can’t return it as it was. I am very disappointed. Sundance fully meets my expectations, it has no alternatives, and now it is spoiled. Maybe you can fix it. So that the whole background turns white again. I would be very grateful to you for any help.

It is resolved. Nearly. This way helped me: “colors and background images – background – default – settings – hide background image”. Perhaps someone will be useful. But now it’s impossible to “choose your own color” for the central column. With any choice, it turns gray. Strange crash.

Yes, kforbz, this should work. Thank you for your help and a good idea. But my plan does not involve CSS customization.
And most importantly, my problem with the background is just a consequence of some kind of glitch. It’s not normal that the background changes on its own. And, as I wrote above, now it’s impossible to “choose your own color”.

I went to change my test site to the Sundance theme but couldn’t find it. Could you please share the link to where I can change to this theme so I can check if the option to have custom colours and backgrounds is available? It is only available on certain themes.

Now my site looks like before the crash. This is the result of the steps described in the second comment of this thread.
You cannot use the Sundance theme if you are not using it now. This is an archive theme, it is not in the themes catalog.

You can actually reactivate the Sundance theme since you have used it before under your account. You can enable the theme by searching for it in the wp-admin dashboard:

Correct, writer0001, would not be able to use a retired theme unless they’d used it previously.
If you haven’t made changes recently and this color issue just came up, let us know. And, was the grey similar to this?

Absolutely right, supernovia, I “haven’t made changes recently and this color issue just came up”. That is the essence of the problem. The background has been totally white for several years. Like now.
This is exactly what I want. And I didn’t change anything. But yesterday, the background color changed on its own, without my participation. It looked like this.
I can reproduce this view. The sequence of actions in the second comment of this thread. I will add screenshots to make it clearer.

Thanks for confirming. It looks like this was caused by a change that made custom colors, that used to be a paid upgrade, available to everyone.
Our developers are investigating the issue that caused this. Sorry for the trouble it caused here :)
