Background color to text block
-
Hi:
Is it possible to add a background color to a block of text.
As was done here:
I’m trying to add a background color to a book excerpt here:
I tried a <span> tag but that only highlighted the words leaving white strips between sentences.
Appreciate any help and guidance – couldn’t find anything relevant in the forums!

Hi Jeff,
The background color that you see in the post on biblioklept.org actually comes directly from the blog’s theme. That’s a piece of quoted text, and the theme adds a background color to all quotes. (If you’re interested in the overall look, that blog is using the Eighties theme.)
You can also add extra styling like that to any theme with Custom CSS (part of the Custom Design upgrade). If that interests you, we have tips for getting started with CSS here:
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Appreciate the reply! Don’t want to switch themes or take custom upgrade just yet…but thanks for letting me know the options! – J.
