Background color Sidebar text

  I have downloadet and installed WP on my own server.
  http://www.weberguru.dk/wordpress

  Im struggling with 3 problems:

  #1 Im not able to set the background color to black. I have tried severel times, but nothing changes. Anyone who knows exactly where to set the value?

  #2 Im using sidebar Widgets. But how on earth can i change the text “recent posts” to my local language?

  #3 How do i shrink my top graphics to 1/2 the size?

  I will though mention that you need to take a look at your style.css file for the theme that you are using for most of your solutions.
