Hi, I selected a specific colour for my site background in the editor, applied from the footer tab. It shows up as intended within the editor but in no other page, including site previews. Am I missing something? Thank you

update: i found out that it’s declaring a coloured background to be a ‘custom style’ requiring a premium plan, surely that can’t be right?

  • Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out with your question about site background colors. I understand that you’ve selected a color in the editor and it appears as intended there but not on your live site or site previews. You’re correct that making changes to the custom styles of your site, including the background color, requires at least a Premium plan on WordPress.com.

Upgrading to the Premium plan (or higher) unlocks a variety of useful features, including custom CSS for styling, access to premium themes, and advanced design customization options. All our plans will also turn off the ads we show on free sites (which help cover our costs) and allow you to register a custom address for your site so that it has a professional appearance.

If I can make a recommendation, I noticed that your homepage has a CV that is presented as a screenshot. For Search Engine Optimization (SEO) reasons it’s a good idea to add that content as text in the editor. This will allow search engines to be better able to scan and rank your content in search results, since they do not scan for text within images. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
