background edit

I am working on a site and want to edit the background but under appearance there is no background option can you tell me why and does this mean it is not possible? Also I cannot change the URL box underneath???? the actual site URL is http://www.wheelofhope.co.uk

Please note that http://wheelofhope.co.uk/ is not a WordPress.com site. You may be mixing this up with WordPress.org. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

Kinda helpful thanks, I was’nt sure how to find out if it was .org or .com. Is there a trick to finding the difference between the two?

You would be able to tell by logging in. Check the url when you log into your Dashboard. If it’s .com it would look like this:
https://glenmonks.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
As you can see there is wordpress.com before “/wp-admin/”. WordPress.org would not have wordpress.com.
