Background Gone After Upgrading
-
Hello, I am designing a wordpress.com site using the Twenty Ten theme (www.seattle7writers.com)
I just purchased the “Custom CSS” and “Site Mapping” upgrades. However, once I’d finished the purchase I noticed that the site no longer displays the background image or color that I had applied to it. What *should* be displaying there is a centered wood-plank texture that fades to black on either side. Instead, I am seeing a solid light gray color – not even the black background shows.
I had not edited the CSS between the time it took me to purchase the upgrade to when I noticed the problem, so it’s leading me to believe that it occurred *because* of “Custom CSS” being enabled. I have also tried going back to the original CSS for the Twenty Ten theme, but the problem persists. I would appreciate any support or advice you all could give me in fixing the problem. Thanks!

Just so I appease the supportbot:
http://www.seattle7.wordpress.com is the name of the site before I mapped it to the official page.

Once you purchase the CSS upgrade, changes have to be made in the code; you can’t use the regular custom header uploader, etc. However, it should NOT have changed from your previous setup once you bought the upgrade. I see someone has flagged this thread for staff attention, and that should bring a staff member to help fairly quickly.

This can also happen if you paste the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window. What you want to do is to put into the CSS edit window only the specific selectors, and the specific declarations that you are changing otherwise you can run into all sorts of issues with broken relative links in the CSS.

My site is godsdevinedesign.com and I had the same issue. The moment I pasted the CSS, the background and all of the graphic header disappeared. Can I RESTORE the original code somehow?

Did you paste the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window?

You can restore the original by going to the CSS edit window, erasing all the contents and clicking “add to existing CSS”
