Background Image and Colour
-
Sirs and Dames,
Is it possible to have a coloured box around all writing in a blog as well as a background image? Tried changing the colour under “Appearances, Background” but it doesn’t seem to change anything. All help is greatly received.
The theme used is Coraline, and the blog is http://charles-hrh.comRegards, Charles.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Here’s the link to your theme’s description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/coraline/
In addition to white and black, you can enjoy Coraline in blue, brown, pink, purple, and red color schemes.
If those don’t suit then you cannot chnage the background color without purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade and doing the CSS editing required.

This is a little bit of a trick using the borders on left and right so that the content isn’t right up against the edge of the white area. You can edit the color codes in the background and left and right border declarations as you desire.
#container { background: #FFFFFF; border-left: 20px solid #FFFFFF; border-right: 20px solid #FFFFFF; }If we didn’t use the borders, then there would have to be some changes to width, padding and/or margin values in some other selectors. The above does the trick without all the extra work.
