  Hi,
  I am using this WordPress image

  

  I am wondering about copyright. I wanted to use this image on business cards so that they match the website.

  Do the images on WordPress have a copyright and if so, is permission ever granted to an individual to use an image? If so, who do I contact for permission?

  Hi Rebecca,

  The background patterns like the one you’re using are provided by COLOURlovers and licensed for use on WordPress.com.

  You can find your background pattern on COLOURlovers here:

  http://www.colourlovers.com/pattern/1942234/

  I’d recommend checking the license in the sidebar there or contacting the creator of that pattern directly if you’d like to use it for other purposes, such as on your business cards. :)

  @rachelmcr – You mentioned the Colourlovers patterns are licensed for use here on WordPress.com. Can you expand on that a little? This is different than the GPL-licensed themes, free and premium, we use here.
