background Image Gone, but appearing on customizing screen
-
I had a background image on my site for about a year, then one day it was gone along with the header image.
i thought it was just a bug so left it a while and got the Head Image back but the background still won’t appear even though it shows it on the customizing part of the site.
I have deleted the image and added it back and still not working, any ideas why it isn’t returning?

Since you’re using Custom Design in trial mode, you’ll need to exit that preview before you can save changes to your site’s background.
- Open your site’s Customizer.
- Open the section called “CSS”
- At the top of that section, look for the text “This feature is a part of the Premium Plan. Purchase to make it live or exit the preview.”
- Click on “exit the preview” to exit the Custom Design preview.
- Open the “Background Image” section and set your custom background for your site, if you want a new one.
- Click “Save & Publish” at the top of the Customizer.

I was about to ask the same question and glad I did a further search. I was away from my blog due to a death in the family and thought there were some changes while I was gone. I was able to change background images to reflect the different seasons, and wasn’t able to do so today. I thought wordpress.com changed some features while I was away, and now I had to upgrade for a fee.
Thanks so much (yes, I was in the trial mode all along)!!
