Background sizing for Grisaille
-
Does anyone happen to know what the standard background sizing is for the Grisaille? I’m looking to customize a website with a custom background, but first I need to know what the sizing is… Also, for future reference, how do you find out the standard background size for a particular theme?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That blog corrinaserda.wordpress.com is not the one I need help with, just so you know… the blog is trees4saugeen.ca
Right now it just has a photo as the background and doesn’t look very professional because it was only meant to be a placeholder until I find out the normal sizing

There’s no such thing as standard bg size, because it has nothing to do with the theme: how much of the bg a visitor will see depends on the visitor’s screen resolution or device. For example, here’s what you’ll see on a 1680×1050 screen:

and here’s what you’ll see on a 1280×800 screen:

On a tablet, the sidebar becomes a footer, and you only see a thin strip of bg left and right of the main column. Drag the browser window to make it narrower and see for yourself. So the best solution is either a repeating pattern, or an image that fades to a uniform color left, right and bottom, with the exact same color set as a bg color (so one cannot tell where the image ends), and with the bg image set to fixed instead of scroll.

You’re welcome.
To complete the answer: the width of the theme (main column plus sidebar) is 960px, and the majority of internet users have screens narrower than 1400px. So, if you use a non-repeating image, judge for yourself how wide you’ll make it.
