Backgrounds???
-
Hi all! :-)
I am new to blogging and am setting up a music review site for a good friend of mine.
I searched around and found that WordPress was considered to be the best blog site around. I am really pleased with the site as it gives a lot of scope for what needs we have now and it has the flexibility that we might need in the future.
The advice that I need is on ‘backgrouunds’. I have searched the ones provided and none are exactly what we need.
Is there any way of importing a background of your choosing?
If anyone can help on this I’d be really gratefull.
Cheers,
Ste.

Most themes allow you to choose a desired background color, and most of those allow you to import your own background image.
You’re only limited by your imagination, and what you can find. :)

@voxdiablo
If you check here at the live demo site for Themes http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ Click “select features”, then checkmark __ custom backgrounds and then click “search” you will find all of the wordpress.com themes that do support custom backgrounds. -
Or, specifically this link: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-background/ :)

Hi again.
I can see now that there a huge amount of themes that are customizable(In many ways!). This is great, even though it will take more time to find that perfect one :-)
I have found out how to add a personal background and the process is easy and straight forwarad. I am wondering that there might be a way to stretch the image I have to cover the whole screen instead of tiling it?
If not then I’ll work with it but I’m just wondering if there is a way?
Thanks for your advice, Ste.

Unfortunately, images cannot be stretched by the browser as you increase or decrease the window size, but you could stretch the image in an image editor and upload that.

You can stretch the image prior to uploading and you will find that if you optimize and presize all your images to the exact specifications required prior to uploading it the image quality will be maintained. If you don’t it won’t.

I changed the colors and fonts in my original css file now my custom background won’t show and I can’t even get it to show when I add it from the “Appearence” menu.
Can anyone help me figure out the problem? Help!!!
