Backgrounds & Header Not Showing Up

  • Unknown's avatar

For some reason, my background isn’t showing up anymore. So I looked at my Appearance>Background, but according to the page, it says the background is still active. I review my site and it doesn’t show up. I don’t want to remove and replace because I lost the original background added. Unless my browser is being glitchy again. My browser is IE9.

    But can anyone help?
PS: Same exact thing with the header.

For one thing, your background image is entirely too large file size wise. My wireless internet connection completely choked on it.

Go to your media library, download the image, save it as the lowest quality JPG you can and then upload that image and use that one as the background.

Your site loads so slowly right now that the search engines have probably flushed your site down the drain since they use page loading times when determining search engine ranking.

No background image should be over 150k in file size, and yours is 6.4 MB! In photoshop I can get it down to 197k in file size using the lowest JPG quality setting through “save for web & devices” which is still too large, but much better.

If you do not know how to do this, then download the image from my test blog here, http://flippintestblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/jiteyk2-1-opt.jpg , and then upload and use that image.

    That strange…
According to my Photoshop before I published it, it was about 123 KB… must’ve been a reading error.

Yeah, when I downloaded the background image it was 6.4MB.

PNG will always be larger than a JPG since PNG uses very little compression whereas JPG had a lot of compression.
