Backgrounds on themes aren’t working for me
-
Hi,
Whenever I add a theme the background isn’t applied?
Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks
James

Do you mean a custom background that you have uploaded in your Dashboard/Theme/Appearance/Background or the background of the theme itself?

I see your blog now using Greyzed: the background is indeed incorrectly formatted.
Have you tried andy other theme?I have no problem in my test blog with Greyzed, so I’m wondering if it is a cache issue.
Maybe this?If it is only happening for some people, then it is an issue either with their setup, or possibly with their ISP. Most ISP’s now days are using invisible proxy servers to cache pages and if those servers have issues and are not updating regularly or are overloaded, it can cause these problems.

I have read more into this issue and found this advice:
“Do NOT simply copy and paste your theme’s current stylesheet into the editing window. This will break any relative links (such as those pointing to images used by your theme). Should you choose to do this anyway, you will need to update all image URLs and file references (such as background images).”
I dont know how to update the images and urls.

The CSS upgrade is not advised for those who do not already know how to use CSS. All I can suggest is to read the CSS tutorials linked to at the head of the CSS forum.

Your best bet is to not copy the whole stylesheet in the first place. Look through it and pick out just the lines that you have modified, include these in the Edit CSS window and check the “add to existing stylesheet” box.
