Backing Up Draft Files & Testing XML Export

If the export function is used to create an XML files of pages, posts, comments & etc., does it include our Edit page with all current posts and drafts?
If the drafts are not included, is there a way other than copy and paste to save them?

Out of curiosity, is there a way to import the XML file to see how the system works without messing with my current wordpress blog? Could another blog be created and made private for such “messing about”?

    Thanks!

No, it doesn’t include the Edit page, but it does include the drafts, I believe. You can just import the XML file any time you feel like it; it won’t mess up your blog, and you can always do it again later. And some people have private blogs just for testing; it’s very common. Just go to your Global Dashboard and register another blog, and make it Private under Settings.
