I read this on another blog, and am not sure what it means.
the reason they closed my account is because I had backlinks to my self-host website.
I also read this on one of these forums:
But if you have two different blogs with genuine, original and non-commercial content, then of course you can link from the one to the other.

Please give us a link to a post on your WP.com blog where you link to the other site.
Most blogs that get closed for linking off-WP.com are linking to commercial sites and the blog here ONLY exists to drive traffic to the other blog.

I link to a few posts from a blog that I don’t use anymore. Definitely non-commercial. They’re there just as a marker of where I was at another point in the story I am giving. As an archive for myself, or anyone who wants to read it.
Definitely not commercial. I don’t even blog at that site anymore, but I wanted to archive some of the material. If it’s a problem I will take it down, however.

Hi Almamater. You are fine there from what I can see. Linking to other blogs and sites like that (in a way that informs your work) is what blogging is all about! :)
As long as you links are not overtly spammy, you needn’t worry. If you are curious what we mean by that, please see our Affiliate Policy page for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/
@raincoaster – You called it. ;)
