Hi Joan!
On WordPress.com, we handle all necessary backups. We have multiple facilities handling our service to make sure we don’t lose your site, and all those get backups too. :)
If you’d like to do manual backups as well, you can run our Export tool anytime you like:

Hi Alex, 'sme again. My husband has googled my site and it says it can't display etc… as I have not got an IPv4 address. When I googled it myself previously I got a message about robots but I checked my settings and I am already set to allow search engines. Help again please, as I want people to know what my site is about. Thanks.
Regards

Hi Joan,
I see that message too. :(
Google controls how often they’ll reindex a site, but one option you have is to setup their Webmaster tools. They allow folks with that enabled to request their site be re-indexed:

Alex,
I have followed the instructions as well as I can but still no result. I must be doing something wrong?

Hi Joan,
Google does take some time to re-index and update automatically, so it’s possible you’re already in the queue to reindex but it just hasn’t appeared yet.
Those instructions help you verify your site with Google Webmaster tools and if you’ve been successful with that, you can manually ask them to re-index your URL. Follow Google’s instructions here:

Dear Alex,
Thanks for your message. I think the problem is that I can't verify ownership of my site. I have tried many times but with no success. I am reluctant to 'Fetch and Crawl' etc. as I don't understand it. I bought the site from 'Fasthosts' and it was mapped to Word Press. When looking at the invoice I see that I paid for Domain Privacy for 12 months. Is this the cause of the problem? If so can I undo this? I'm getting rather too stressed for my age and think I'll have to give it up. Help

GREETINGS! To Alex and the Word Press Staff. My site has now been 'indexed' by Google and I am delighted. Thanks to you (and my own perseverance). My best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!

Hi Joan,
I’m glad it worked out.
With search engines a little time is almost always needed, so I appreciate your patience and perseverance. :)
Best,
