  I would like to backup my blogs content to an external hard drive. How do I do this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  By going to the dashboard Tools page and using the Export function. That creates a compact file of all your blog contents and comments, but not the theme etc.

  Does this method backup site files and database as well?

  I have come to this as I too wish to backup several blogs. It seems to me that there isn’t an option. Export just creates an XML file of the text from posts, pages and comments, but not the images as far as I can see.

  When you create an XML export file as described here the images are in an attachments file that contains all media. When you import the XML file you are asked if you want to include the attachments or not.
