I’ve a wordpress backup file generated from a wordpress blog hosted on http://www.000webhost.com, the file extension is ‘.wpress’ when I try to import it here is says that this is not a WXR file or that WXR version is missing.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @medicalbr,
The import file you need to use is generated by the WordPress Importer/Exporter tool in your WP-Admin dashboard and it will be an “.xml” file.
Here is info on how to Transfer your site to WordPress.com > https://transferto.wordpress.com/ and they show how to get that xml file from different services.
It could be your Host is using specific software to import/export only from within their system.
I hope this helps.

I did a little research and that .wpress is generated by a plugin called All in one WP Migration > https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/
(They have a support link there if you need help)You won’t be able to use that file to get your data to your WP.Com site, you will need to export it through the Admin area and remember to check the option to get the Media in as well
Best regards.

Thanks a lot to both of you. I managed to export the right .xml file and import it into my WP blog
