Backup of Site’s Files
-
Hello! I was unaware that I would not have easy access to the backup of my site’s files after transferring my domain even though I still have a subscription with WordPress until 2023. Is there any way to retrieve those?
Thank you
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there!
It doesn’t look like you have any WordPress.com sites, which company are you paying for hosting your site? You may need to get in touch with them.
To clear up any possible confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this page:

With all that said, on WordPress.com, you do not lose your content after your plan expires, your site just goes back to the Free plan. When self-hosting, you will want to make sure you’re backing up your site, for example with Jetpack:
